About the HESS Awards

“Eight Years of Championing Health, Environment, Safety & Security Excellence in Ghana”

Who We Are

The HESS Awards is Ghana’s foremost recognition platform dedicated to identifying, celebrating, and publicly honouring outstanding performance in Occupational Health, Environmental Management, Workplace Safety, and Security Excellence.

Established in 2018, the HESS Awards has grown from a pioneering initiative into a nationally recognised institution, celebrating its 8th edition in 2026. We serve as a catalyst for Ghana’s HESS culture — creating positive competitive pressure across industries to continuously raise standards, embed best practice, and make Ghanaian workplaces safer, healthier, and more sustainable.

✓ The awards are aimed at creating awareness, raising the bar of excellence and showcasing success, thereby encouraging others to adopt best HSSE practices and uphold the highest standards of HSSE management and practice, striving for continuous improvement and excellence within the organisation at all times.

Recognising Business Units & Innovators

The awards are intended to recognise Business Units in HSSE innovation and excellence and the successes they have made in overcoming challenges. It’s also intended to promote the implementation of best H.S.S.E management systems and practices, which embody the classical model for continual improvement through the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle.

The HESS Awards scheme has for the past seven years championed the cause of promoting the adoption of best HSSE Practices. The awards celebrate companies, teams and individuals who have been successful in the course of the year under review in managing the risk of workplace development and their health, safety, security and the environment.
